Preview, rename and download. All in one place.
HEIC photos can be difficult to open in older apps and upload forms. This converter first decodes the HEIC still photo to a web-friendly PNG, then exports JPEG at the quality and dimensions you select. The PNG intermediate avoids an extra lossy JPEG conversion step.
How it works
- Choose HEIC or HEIF photos, including files with uppercase .HEIC extensions.
- Wait for local decoding, then check the preview and choose JPEG quality and dimensions.
- Download your JPG photos individually or as a named ZIP archive.
Tool comparison: HEIC / HEIF and JPEG / JPG
| Feature | HEIC / HEIF | JPEG / JPG |
|---|---|---|
| Typical use | Efficient storage of phone photos | Sharing with common apps and upload forms |
| Browser workflow | Local HEIC decoding may be needed | Widely viewable JPEG output |
| Special photo data | May contain HDR or multiple images | An 8-bit still-image export |
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert iPhone photos with no HEIC MIME type?
Yes. The tool also recognizes .heic and .heif filename extensions, including uppercase filenames, before decoding.
Are Live Photos, HDR and camera metadata preserved?
This is a still-image, web-export workflow. It does not preserve Live Photo motion, original HDR data, depth information or original camera metadata. Multi-image containers use the first decoded image.
Why does HEIC conversion take longer than JPEG conversion?
HEIC may need a separate local decoder before the normal compression worker can run. Large iPhone photos use more CPU and memory; the decoder is loaded only when a HEIC file is added.
What if a HEIC photo cannot be decoded?
Some HEIC variants are not supported by the available decoders. The affected file shows an error without stopping the rest of the queue. Export that photo as JPEG from Photos and try again.
